test-style Crusades

Write 1 complete sentence: Describe one effect (positive or negative) of the Crusades.

Sentence starter options (pick one):
  • One effect of the Crusades was ______, which mattered because ______.
  • The Crusades led to ______ in Europe/the Middle East because ______.
Quick checklist:
  • ✅ Names an effect (trade/knowledge/tension/strife/weakened feudalism, etc.)
  • ✅ Explains why it mattered (cause → effect)
  • ✅ One complete sentence (subject + verb)
Show example answers
  • Example (positive): The Crusades increased contact and trade between regions, which mattered because Europeans gained new goods and ideas.
  • Example (negative): The Crusades increased conflict between Christian Western Europe and Islam, which mattered because it created long-term distrust and violence.
related Magna Carta / Parliament

Write 2–3 sentences: How did feudalism help lead to limits on the king in England (Magna Carta → Parliament)?

Stems (choose):
  • In feudalism, nobles had power because ______.
  • They pushed back against the king when ______.
  • The Magna Carta mattered because ______.
Show a strong sample

In feudalism, nobles had land and soldiers, so they had power. When King John demanded too much, nobles forced him to accept limits. The Magna Carta mattered because it showed the king must follow rules, which helped lead to Parliament later.

Helpful Testing Hints

  • Look for cause → effect words: because, led to, resulted in.
  • Match people/roles: lord gives land, vassal promises service, knight fights, serf works.
  • Use time clues: Magna Carta (1215) before Parliament grows.
  • For Crusades effects, pick trade/ideas or increased conflict (not “ended forever”).
  • Plague effects: labor shortage, higher wages, social change.
Tip: If a choice sounds “absolute” (always/never), it is often wrong.
If you want this to feel even more like Schoology without copying it, I can add a “Test Mode” toggle that hides hints/explanations until the end and forces “one attempt” per question.
